A One-Bedroom Beauty Overlooking Lake Peekskill for $375K

Today we’re in the hamlet of Lake Peekskill, at a home overlooking the lake.

The 997-square-foot two-story is listed as a one-bedroom, but the lower-level family room is currently being used as an alternate bedroom. The exterior is pretty, with beige stucco and corner quoints. The house sits on a stone foundation that forms a front patio rimmed by iron railings.

Walk in the front door and up an iron-railed staircase to the cathedral-ceilinged living room, which has a dark wood-look laminate floor and gray walls.

A wide doorway leads to the kitchen.

The U-shaped format is a perfect layout. The dark cabinets and faux-granite counters might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they’re in great condition. The white subway-tile backsplash is low-maintenance, but we can’t honestly say they go with the rest of the decor here, which includes a wood-look laminate floor.

The living room, as seen here from the kitchen, has a stone fireplace, too. Next to the fireplace is a door leading to the backyard, which can also be accessed via an outdoor concrete staircase on the side of the house.

The top floor has lots of windows, including casements topped by small sliding windows in the living room.

Just off the living room is this den/office with a wall of casement windows and a wood floor.

Next to the den is a bedroom with another wall of windows.

The full bath has a gray tile floor with matching tile up one side of the tub/shower surround; white wainscoting;  and a gray-and-marble vanity. The intense blue wall color works here.

Head back down the stairs to the tiled family room, which is currently being used as the aforementioned bedroom.

There’s a powder room down here, too, with gray walls and a pretty, petite, modern vanity.

The laundry room’s down here, as well.

A concrete side patio rises above the level of the front patio and has seasonal lake views. The patio obviously needs some repair; while the new owners are at it, they might want to consider replacing the chain-link fencing with a cable railing for a more esthetic look.

The house is on a hilly but spacious 1.32-acre lot just 15 minutes from downtown Peekskill and Italian food at Taormina Trattoria or craft brews at Birdsall House. And it’s just an hour from Manhattan.
