A Poughkeepsie Two-Bedroom Starter that’s Close to Everything

  |  February 2, 2025

It’s not five figures, but the price on this Poughkeepsie two-bedroom on a quarter-acre isn’t bad.

The blue-shingled cottage is in the Arlington neighborhood of Poughkeepsie, right off Route 44 and close to great shopping and restaurants. A picket fence out front is a nice touch.

A sunroom runs the width of the house in front.Tongue-and-groove wood planking forms the wainscoting and covers the ceiling.

From there, enter the living room. We love the hardwood flooring; the red walls may need an update.

The kitchen could use a redo, too, although the flooring is nice.

The new owner would need to add a fridge. We’d consider an overhaul, if it’s in the budget.

This den is just off the kitchen. It has a skinny closet and built-in shelves.

The wood floor in this bedroom is nice. A ceiling fan keeps the air moving.

A blue, build-in loft bed with stairs dominates the second bedroom.

The bathroom is roomy but could use many updates.

This dining area off the kitchen has sliders to the outside, and steps down to the basement.

It’s ready to be finished for extra living/play space.

A laundry room is already down here.

The backyard is a great size.

Plus, there’s a detached garage.

Like we said, it’s close to amenities: For example, Adams Fairacre Farms is just two minutes down Route 44. Again, it’s not a bargain, but at $265,950, it’s a good value for the location.
