A Rebooted Midcentury Modern Home in Ellenville

Upstater featured this home in late 2023. It’s been primped and preened and ready for another closeup.

We gushed over its Midcentury Modern lines in our previous writeup. The exterior, thankfully, has not changed.

The interior has been shined up. We’re glad that fireplace is intact. But hey, a peek at the kitchen shows some changes were afoot.

Yes, the Harvest Gold counters and backsplash are gone, along with the older tile floor.

Granite counters cover the cabinets and a petite center island. The French Provincial style may be a little niche, but let’s hope the new owner likes it.

The expanse of cherry woodtone flooring stretches from the living room through an office area to the hallway leading to bedrooms.

There are four bedrooms here, all of them spruced up since our last foray here.

The generously sized windows are a treat.

A clothes-horse-worthy closet lines one wall of this bedroom.

Walk down the c.1970s brick-and-stone stairwell to a bright and shiny, mother-daughter setup on the lower level.

Gray and white are key here. The bedroom has gray laminate flooring and gray walls.

The bathroom is modern, with an oversized, walk-in shower.

The living room is dazzlingly bright. Wait, there was one element of the house that we’ve been waiting, with bated breath, to see if it was preserved or demolished.

Aha! Welcome to the 1950s. This green-and-peach-tiled bathroom would be a treasure for MidMod fans. It has the same floor it had in 2023, and a huge, two-sink vanity. By now, longtime readers know that Upstater would rather have matched the ’50s mode, but hey, at least the tiling remains.

And so does this neat tiled shower stall.

The upstairs kitchen could have taken a cue on modernity from the one down here, in all its white-and-granite glory.

The house measures 3,400 square feet and sits on 3.9 acres with gardens and fruit trees. The price has gone up since 2023 – it’s listed at $670,000.
