A Refined Farmhouse in Saugerties
Jane Anderson | September 18, 2025
There’s something magical about breathing new life into an older home. Today’s Upstater find is a great example.
This c.1838 farmhouse in Saugerties has eyebrow windows above a wraparound covered porch, with hydrangeas lining the porch’s perimeter.
The living room is big and bright, with oversized windows and hardwood flooring.
Marmorino plaster covers the walls, including behind this freestanding woodburning stove. A pad of Zellige tile protects the floor beneath it.
Identical tile covers the floor in the adjoining powder room.
Exposed rafters accent the ceiling above the dining room…
…and the kitchen. Carrara marble countertops have a waterfall edge on one side of the light gray cabinetry. Glazed tile shines on the backsplash.
A hallway with a painted floor waits at the top of the stairs.
The full bath upstairs has beautiful tilework in the shower.
And that tile continues on the walls surrounding a clawfoot tub.
Each of the three bedrooms has neutral walls and hardwood flooring.
The house measures 1,302 square feet and sits on an acre of land. Just off the porch, a stone path skirts a garden and a firepit area.
The detached, one-car garage has extra storage/workshop space. The house’s listing price is $715,000.
Downtown Saugerties is about five miles east of here; but Opus 40‘s beautiful walking trails are about a mile and a half away.
