A Seasonal, Fairytale Fixer-Upper in Liberty for $55K

  |  July 15, 2022

On Five-Figure Friday, we’re visiting this seasonal dollhouse of a home in Liberty, Sullivan County.

It’s got a roomy, shady front porch with a cute scalloped trim, and rustic stone steps leading to the front yard.

Enter the house, and the living room, dining room, and kitchen Are. Right. There. Whoever buys this 480-square-foot house needs to appreciate cozy living (and wallpaper…lots of wallpaper).

The house was built in 1945, and some of that cabinetry looks original and still quite sturdy. The patina on that door is just stunning, and we’re glad nothing about it appears to have changed. The walls, though—and the linoleum underfoot—could use updating. And we imagine a Formica-topped, diner-style dinette would be a fitting replacement for the current setup for eating.

There’s more charming vintage wood trim throughout the house, including in this bedroom off the kitchen that’s big enough for two twin beds, a dresser, and a nightstand.

The listing mentions only one bedroom and one bath, but then there’s this room. It looks to us like another bedroom. There was no photo of the bathroom in the listing.

The property is just over a quarter-acre, with some landscaping in the front yard…

…and a couple of storage sheds in the woodsy backyard. Liberty is close to a lot of good Sullivan County amenities like Resorts World Catskill and the Kartrite Water Park; and local lakes for fishing and other recreation.
