A Seven-Bedroom Cape in the City of Middletown for $339.9K

  |  October 14, 2022

Remember yesterday, when we said we were ending our tour of Middletown homes? We sort of lied.

Today, we’re back where we started, in the neighborhood of Maddy’s Diner and walking distance from the businesses along North Street. This oversized Cape Cod has seven bedrooms (not all of which are pictured in the listing) and is 2,436 square feet.

The front porch is extensive, with a traditional gray floor that needs a paint touch-up.

The parlor is partially tiled and gives you a taste of the c. 1920 woodwork. This bay window has a leafy view.

The sage-walled living room has a whitewashed brick fireplace flanked by two tall windows. The beige wall-to-wall carpet from the parlor flows into this room, too.

The kitchen is positively Jetsons-esque, with a pink vinyl tile floor, counters and backsplashes in a mix of pink Formica and grouted white tile, and walls of curvy white cabinets accented with snazzy chrome trim.

The peninsula continues the wave. That’s a vintage Sub-Zero fridge, if ever we saw one. The sink has a triple-casement bay window for light and air.

There’s even more curvy storage in these tall cabinets, which have cupboards above them, too.

There are two bedrooms on the main floor. This aqua one has vinyl tile that probably needs to be replaced, but it’s a good size.

The second main-level bedroom is carpeted, and it’s painted in a deep cream tone that the new owner would most likely want to update.

The main-floor bath has a glass-door shower stall, a tiny-tiled floor…

…and a walk-in, jetted tub.

Upstairs are more bedrooms, including this one in pink with a creative baseboard-level border and coordinating carpeting.

This green bedroom took that border and elevated it to ceiling height.

The carpet in this room has seen better days, for sure. Twin sconces light the room, along with a ceiling fan. The closet has a distressed-look door.

The bathroom upstairs has chair-rail woodwork separating a painted wall from a floral wallpaper above it. A clawfoot tub is a charming addition.

The double-width driveway leads to a shed on the left and a studio on the right.

The studio has electricity, heat, a ceiling fan, and carpeting, and is lined with shelves.

The corner property is beautifully landscaped and measures about a third of an acre. It’s on a quiet part of Commonwealth Avenue but close to shopping and restaurants.
