A Showstopper Condominium on the Fishkill Creek: $1.95M

  |  May 2, 2024

Today, Upstater is visiting a showstopper of a condominium on the Fishkill Creek in Beacon. We don’t often include condos here, but this one is stunning.

A former silk factory, its brick exterior retains the gritty ambiance of its history.

The grittiness falls away in the foyer, which is bright, clean, and crisp with a wood floor and white wall. Sunlight slants along the thick windowsills.

The entry is on the second floor. Just around the corner from the foyer is the kitchen, with a blue center island that’s topped with a cooktop embedded in the granite counter.

Cabinets in a similar theme run along one wall. The dining area’s walls have hand-printed, gilded, marbleized wallpaper by Calico. It’s illuminated by two Austrian Midcentury Modern chandeliers.

More cabinets are scattered around the kitchen, containing a Wolfe range and other stainless-steel appliances. Walls on this side of the kitchen are covered in encaustic tile with a green herringbone pattern.

Two of the three bedrooms are on the second floor, including this primary bedroom. The pink and white marble walls are a true statement.

That statement continues in the bathroom, which has an oversized tub, white subway-tiled glass-door shower, and a chrome-legged sink. The home has three full baths and two half-baths.

The primary bedroom’s walk-in closet has lots of shelves and drawers for organization.

The remaining two bedrooms share the same design ethos of wood flooring and white walls.

One is on the second floor, and the other is on the lower level.

The great room on the lower level has 20-foot ceilings.

A Spanish-imported, custom fireplace dominates the space along with two tiers of windows and an iconic Welles glass & brass sculptural chandelier by Gabriel Scott.

This family room is tucked behind the great room. It’s got a TV wall and a lovely double-sided fireplace treated with leathered Taj Mahal marble.

The outer side of that fireplace, in a dramatic black, is the perfect backdrop for an expansive wood-decked patio. A custom waterfall splashes along another wall.

Another big space on the lower level retains much of the original factory finishes and is used as an office.

It adjoins a gallery space for the new owners to display their private collections.

A balcony has a creek-skimming view off the second-floor foyer.

The condo measures a total of 4,214 square feet—view a quick yet thorough virtual tour here. It’s just a block or so off Main Street in Beacon, and a tenth of a mile from Hudson Valley Brewery.
