A Stunning House in Hudson: $2.65M

  |  May 11, 2024

Fancy Friday is a day late, but it was worth the wait. Today, Upstater is at a stunning house in Hudson with equally amazing renovated barns.

The Kipp Farn was established around 1800; however, there’s no stuffiness here. Stylish black-and-red shutters accentuate the white siding. A portico covers the front door, and a rear composite deck wraps around to one side. Gable-end paneling and a metal roof add more charm.

The living room’s vaulted ceiling has double stacks of windows that pour sunlight into the space. The flooring throughout the home is either bamboo or hardwood. Here, it just glows. A built-in Bodart & Gonay wood-burning fireplace adds ambience.

The office/library has a freestanding Rika fireplace.

Another fireplace in the dining room looks original to the house. The sculptural molding around the windows is spectacular.

So is the paneled ceiling in the kitchen. White, Shaker-style cabinets are topped with butcher block for a classic look. In addition to the island with built-in storage and bookshelves, there’s plenty of room for a sleek dining set.

The other side of the island has a gas range with a freestanding overhead range hood. Upper cabinets across from it have glass doors.

The house has four bedrooms, four full baths, and two half-baths. This top-floor bedroom has wide, knotty-pine floors, a vaulted ceiling, and carved nooks next to an elegant wood-slider closet.

The soaking tub in this ensuite bathroom is suspended in a stand on a charcoal-tiled floor. Lighter gray tile climbs halfway up the wall.

An extra-spacious bedroom on the second floor has knotty-pine flooring and windows galore.

A second bedroom on the same floor is similar.

Those slatted shades in the bedrooms repeat themselves in this bathroom.

The outside of the house is as pretty as the inside. This pergola is heavy with vines, forming a beautiful space for tea and conversation.

The 2,300-square-foot carriage house has been converted to living space and now comprises an office, one bedroom, and a full and half bath. Sliding barn doors frame a triplet of glass sliders.

Extensive attention to detail elevates the carriage house—for example, check out that wooden accent wall.

The main floor has an Acme kitchen and the powder room. On the top floor, post-and-beam supports sprinkle their way throughout the space.

A movie-screening area is a nice touch.

The bedroom is airy, yet cozy. The carriage house has a deck overlooking a pond, and an EV charger.

The property’s 40.6 acres include red barns surrounding a heated, in-ground, 60’ x 20’ Gunite pool.

The barns house this two-story pool house…

…a full gym…

…plenty of workshop and storage space, and a Tesla car charger.

Two separate barns are beautifully stark, with aged siding and red metal roofs.

A 96-panel solar array in a distant field provides 80 percent of the property’s electricity. A security system, two backup generators, and a five-zone drip-irrigation system are among other amenities.

It’s just 10 minutes to Amtrak from here, and two miles from downtown Hudson—where you can enjoy a glass of wine while creating a candle at the Poured Candle Bar.
