A Three-Story Victorian in Red Hook
Jane Anderson | December 3, 2025
It’s funny how a house’s elevation can seem to define its character.
This three-story Victorian in Red Hook looks simply traditional in this view, with a peaked portico and a brick stoop on the main floor, with two stories rising above it.
Yet, this view makes the home look completely different, with two stories of screened terraces and a half-hexagon room off a rear deck.
Nah, it’s the same house. Check out this vintage entry, with beautiful wood treatment on the front door and the stairwell.
Yellow accents the intricate ceiling treatment and the window trim in the living room.
Slim French doors flip open…
…to an updated kitchen.
With copper-toned, punched-tin backsplashes and tiger-wood cabinetry, the kitchen is a showplace; it also has stainless-steel appliances.
Personally, we love the scalloped trim—though the new owner has a rainbow palette from which to choose, if he/she doesn’t care for the green. Here, the scallops frame a transition from the kitchen to a dining nook.
The beige bathroom offers a respite from color. We love that vintage sink. The house has three full bathrooms.
It also has four bedrooms. This one has great built-ins on one side of the expansive room…
…and more built-ins on the opposite wall.
This purple-walled room has big windows that let in lots of light.
A curved ceiling hugs this bathroom, which has a vintage vanity and a standalone, wall-mounted vintage sink.
Tongue-and-groove wood curves up the wall in this full bath.
A green-painted floor is a joyful surprise in this bedroom.
And here’s a hammock in the lower enclosed terrace.
The four-bedroom, three-bath house is an impressive 2,559 square feet, on about a quarter-acre of land. It’s listed for $639,000, and it’s two-tenths of a mile from Yum Yum Noodle Bar on Market Street, along with plenty of other businesses to peruse.
