A Two-Bedroom Log Cabin Fixer-Upper in Port Jervis: $99K

  |  December 2, 2022

Today’s Five-Figure Friday finds us in Orange County’s Port Jervis amidst a snow flurry.

This log home was built in 1981 and sits on 9.4 lush acres.

The exterior is super-cute, though it needs refurbishing. Take a good look outside—according to the listing, no interior showings are allowed.

Here’s a peek, though: The kitchen has a wood floor and some rustic wood beams on the ceiling. The fly strips hanging from them offer insight into the condition of the home.

The living room has a faux-brick fireplace. And it looks like hardwood floors run through this room, too.

Here is one of the two bedrooms. Pretty much everything here would need to be overhauled, from the carpet to the lighting.

One wall of the bathroom has a neat log look. But the rest of the room would unfortunately need a gut job.

There’s a full, unfinished basement, too; the new owner might as well finish this into living space while they’re at it.

A partially covered outdoor deck offers breezes and a view….of invasive Japanese knotweed (put “ripping out that” on the punchlist, too). The house measures 1,104 square feet, but with more than nine acres to play with, an addition wouldn’t be out of the question. Plus, it’s just 10 minutes to excellent coffee, candles, and home goods at Foundry42+, and 20 minutes to scenic hikes at Elks-Brox Memorial Park (where you can step onto the intersection of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania!).
