A Vintage Charmer in Kingston for $310K
Jane Anderson | September 28, 2022The City of Kingston’s history dates to the arrival of the Dutch in the mid-1600s, and that influence is evident even in modern times, with street names reminiscent of that heritage.
Today, we’re visiting a house on Hasbrouck Avenue, about a block off Broadway and a mile and a half east of Uptown. It’s got two bedrooms and one bathroom, and was built in 1915, but it’s been renovated by a designer and is cozy and cute.
The foyer has hardwood floors and a painted staircase. The hall leads to a dining area and eventually the door to the backyard.
The dining area is bright and open, with a beaded chandelier and a sunny window.
It’s open to the big kitchen, which has more of those wood floors; a painted-tin-look ceiling; and two walls’ worth of new cabinets in a soft gray tone, topped by quartz countertops. There’s an aproned farmhouse sink with a sculptural faucet and a stainless-steel gas range with a brick backsplash and restaurant-style hood.
There’s room for pantry shelves next to the French-door fridge.
Follow the arched doorway into a sun-filled space.
It’s the living room, which has more of that fancy ceiling treatment.
The windows follow the curve of the front wall. The house has a new furnace, but the current owners kept the vintage radiators (which have a charm of their own).
Head up the stairs…
…to a hallway that leads to the primary bedroom. Like the living room, its windows follow the house’s curve.
A second bedroom is a good size, with a neutral color scheme of brown and white.
Both bedrooms share a full bath, which has a marble-topped navy-blue vanity and brass-tone hardware.
There’s a tub/shower combination, and gorgeous ceramic-tile flooring.
The listing says the house has an office. This isn’t it—it’s a closet. But it’s good to know there is an office, and a closet, too, within the 1,153-square-foot space.
