An Inn with History in Ellenville: $995K
Jane Anderson | July 9, 2024
Today, Upstater is looking at an inn with history in Ellenville. 81 North Main Street began its life as the Ellenville Telephone Company, then Village Hall for a time.
It’s spent the past several years as a three-suite inn, though it could convert to a single-family home—and a spacious one at that, with an interior that measures 6,654 square feet. The exterior retains the brick facade and stately tall windows.

The skinny entrance hall is bright, thanks to those windows.

The ceilings are 12 feet tall throughout the two-story building. This suite has two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath, plus a half-bath. The living room, like those in all the suites, has an electric fireplace.

The kitchens have high-end finishes and stainless-steel cooktops, ovens, fridges, bevvie coolers, and sinks. Quartz counters gleam on polished wood cabinetry.

Distressed wood beams loom on the ceiling of this bright bedroom, which has floating nightstands.

A Japanese soaking tub complements the corner shower in this ensuite bath.

You can see how high the ceiling is in this bedroom, which also has wall-to-wall carpeting.

This bathroom has a modern gray glass floating vanity, with gray stone tiling on the tub/shower.

The living room in the second suite has a corner fireplace and a gray floor.

This kitchen has the same finish as that of the two-bedroom suite.

The bathroom isn’t huge, but it’s got nice touches like the glass half-wall in the shower.

The high ceilings allow for dramatic furnishings.

A Midcentury Modern-esque entry door is next to the kitchen in this suite.

The living room in this suite is large.

The bedroom is bright, with light gray walls.

Like the other baths, this one has gray tiling surrounding the tub/shower.

All of the suites are on the second floor. The main floor has a retail showroom, an office, and room for storage. A lower floor has another half-bath, cedar closet, wine room, laundry room, and ironing room.

Three legal lots comprise the half-acre property. The rear lot of the building is almost fully paved.

The new owner of 81 North Main Street will be right in the center of the village, just around the corner from a warm pumpernickel-raisin loaf at Cohen’s Bakery.
