An Update-Worthy Colonial in Rhinebeck: $600K
Jane Anderson | May 29, 2024Sometimes, Upstater’s picks have great bones but need cosmetic updates. Despite its north-of-half-a-mil price tag, today’s update-worthy Colonial in Rhinebeck does need a refresh on the interior.
Still, it’s a lotta house for the money: five bedrooms and three full baths in more than 2,800 square feet. The exterior has a classic Colonial boxy shape, three-sided staircase to the front portico, and interesting stacks of casement windows on the blue-sided facade.
The living room is in good shape, with maybe just new paint on the walls.
Ceiling beams are white to match the window trim and the fireplace surround.
The kitchen is dated, to be sure. Parts of it are long and skinny, with white cabinets and wooden counters. The appliances are mismatched, but it’s all the more reason to completely update the room.
Those stacked casement windows are intriguing to Midcentury Modern fans, and they reappear in the dining area adjacent to the kitchen.
The dining room is navy blue.
A first-floor master has mossy green walls and light brown wall-to-wall carpeting.
The ensuite bath is aqua.
This mudroom has light aqua walls and ceramic flooring that all looks kind of tired and in need of a redo.
This little porch off the side of the house is a nice touch, with an exposed brick column.
White steel railings are at the top of the stairs on the second floor. The hardwood flooring here is nice.
This long and lean room has wall-to-wall carpeting and purple walls.
The full bath here has neutral walls and basic but well-maintained fixtures.
An expanse of hardwood flooring highlights this spacious bedroom.
Stick-on stars pepper the ceiling in this room, which has a shelf system in the closet.
A flame-themed mural commands attention in this room.
The third and final bath has a pedestal sink and a tub/shower rimmed with accent tile. The walls are aqua and the floor is white tile with dark grouting.
The garage is big enough for two vehicles and has a regular door on the side for egress.
The 1,000-square-foot unfinished basement has nine-foot-high ceilings.
The house is on 3.07 acres, and it’s under 10 minutes to the Dutchess County Fairgrounds for a Hudson Valley Fresh milkshake at the end of the summer.
