Bargain Alert! Hudson Jewel Box Victorian, $139,500

  |  February 23, 2012

We just had to include this little gem of a house on Carroll Street in Hudson. Completely renovated interior, gorgeous bath and a private garden off the living room. It looks like it may need a bit of cosmetic attention in the front near the second floor windows, but it’s quite a charmer all the same.

The detailing is lovely, both inside and out, and it has a living room fire place and exposed brick in the kitchen. There’s even a tiny bit of space in the back yard, albeit not much.

This house is a modest 840 square feet, but it’s close walking distance to all the Hudson city-center goodies. The public library is just a block away, too.

Now, a word on the neighborhood: Carroll Street is not Warren Street. It lies on the outskirts of the fancy part of town, so there’s a mix of beautiful houses (like this one) and some houses that are in various stages of repair and disrepair. You could say that Carroll Street is indicative of what Hudson is like outside of the galleries, expensive antique shops and restaurants. But according to what we’ve read, streets like Carroll in Hudson are seeing a reawakening of sorts, and places like this great little house are getting the attention they deserve.
