Brighten Your Black Friday at Basilica Hudson’s Farm & Flea Holiday Market 11/23-25

  |  November 20, 2018

Heading to the big-box stores on Black Friday? Consider Hudson, NY, instead, where you’ll find a gift for everyone on your list at Basilica Hudson’s Farm & Flea Holiday Market 2018…

…and, Farm & Flea will be welcoming 15 first-time vendors to this year’s market, bringing the total to over 110 vendors selling everything from vintage clothing and antiques, to food and drink, to ceramics and hand-crafted goods. The market sets up shop at the Basilica starting Friday, November 23 through Sunday, November 25, 2018, open 12pm to 7pm on Friday, and 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. This will be the market’s sixth year.

General Admission is $5 for full weekend with free admission for kids under 12.

Born Thanksgiving Weekend 2013 as an antidote to big box Black Friday, Basilica Farm & Flea is part timeless flea and farmer’s market and part 21st-century craft and design fair. With over 10,000 square feet of raw space, Basilica Farm & Flea is the only market of this scale in the region, according to Melissa Auf der Maur, Basilica Hudson co-founder and director.

New vendors this year include handmade and vintage clothing from Kapari, YokoSnoopy & James Concannon and Kingston-based Sundust Vintage; hand-crafted jewelry by Aoko Su; and t-shirts made by the young leaders of Hudson Area Library’s Tween Advisory Council.

Several Hudson Valley farmers and chefs will also be taking part in Basilica Farm & Flea Holiday Market, including first-timers Mill River Farm, Albany-based syrup makers Hedonic Tonic, Hudson’s Italian Market and Papa’s Best Batch gourmet smoked pistachios and almonds. Soap-makers Mater Soap, zero-waste furniture designers FN Furniture and Ithaca-based folk artist Mary Shelley will also be making their Basilica Farm & Flea debuts, with Mary offering wood carving demonstrations at her booth.

Curated by Jury

In 2016, Basilica Farm & Flea began working with a jury during the vendor application process in order to maintain and expand the quality and integrity of this event. “Working with a diverse jury,” explained Auf der Maur, “ensures the market considers, reviews, and selects the highest quality work the region has to offer.”

The holiday market is one of two markets Farm & Flea presents each year along with the Spring Market.
