Bask in the Light in this Greene County Victorian, $179,500
Kandy Harris | February 10, 2016In spite of its affordable price, this spiffy Victorian has gotten a lot of love of late. New stuff and updates include electric, plumbing, insulation, kitchen, and roof, which practically makes it a full renovation. Could still use some final tweaks, but for the price? We’d gladly tweak the hell out of this house for that price.
If your only familiarity with Greene County is the village of Catskill, keep in mind that the hamlet of Oak Hill is about a half-hour west of Catskill in a rural setting. Fret not, however: There is a record store, farm-to-table restaurant, and, once a year, the Grey Fox bluegrass festival walking distance from the property, all things that help take the sting out of a lot size that’s less than 1/10th of an acre.
As for the interior, we’ll let the photos do the talking, but we love how bright it is. Check out the kitchen’s wall of windows. We can think of worse things to look at while doing the dishes.
Includes 3 beds/2 baths, 1600 square feet, historic farmhouse detailing (the property info has this house built in 1795…could that be true?), master bedroom with cathedral ceilings, and a full basement.
7917 Route 81, Oak Hill (Century 21 New West Properties)
