What Would You Do with a Barn in the Catskills?

  |  October 9, 2018

Anything you want. Make this big Catskills barn a home, business, studio, theater…the possibilities abound…

Bargain-hunters: You’re going to want to stick with us this week on Upstater. All week long, we’ll be featuring properties listed for under $100K in the Hudson Valley and Catskills. Many of these low-priced properties around the area require some work. Some of them require a lot of work. This particular barn falls into the latter category. HOWEVER, if you’re looking for a chance to refurb a barn into an impressive home or business, this one could be perfect.

At 2,000 square feet, the barn, which is located in western Ulster County near Ellenville, offers loftiness by the score, sliding double barn doors large enough for tall things, high ceilings, and some updates, too.

New stuff includes 200-amp electric, partial slate roof, floors, and some exterior repair work. It needs literally everything to make it inhabitable, but it’s fine for storage right now, as well as a studio space for big projects or a workshop.

The town of Wawarsing is on the western side of Ulster County, close to the north side of Minnewaska State Park. Warwasing means “where the creek bends” in the Wawarsink language, and, indeed, the Rondout Creek takes some sharp turns here. The barn itself is located on its own little stream, complete with delightfully-rickety/charming foot and conveyor bridges. Sits on 1.3 acres of land in Warwasing hamlet.
