Buy These Civil War Barns for $80,000
Upstater Staff | September 12, 2014Our love of old red barns has been extensively explored within the virtual pages of Upstater, so it’s no surprise we were charmed by this set of historic barns in Castleton-on-Hudson in southwest Rensselaer County just north of Columbia County. According to the listing, which doesn’t reveal much about what these barns are all about, they are currently set up as an artist’s studio and show room. Situated on nearly an acre-and-a-half, they sit right on the banks of the Schodack Creek. Looking at these barns led us to poking around the village of Castleton-on-Hudson, which looks like a charming little place that we’d love to visit. Anybody know it? We’d love an insider’s assessment. Also, how do we pronounce the name of the road upon which the barns are located? We keep thinking “mew-ITS-ee-skill.” Somebody set us straight.
