Callicoon Center Renovated Church, $199,900
Kandy Harris | February 26, 2015It’s one thing to purchase a church and renovate it into a private residence, but it’s quite a bit harder to find a church on the market that’s already been renovated. That’s what makes this one in Callicoon Center such an unusual find. Regardless of how you feel about salmon-colored walls, the stained glass windows are stunning and the open floor plan living room/dining room/kitchen is right up our alley. Interesting that the bedroom off of the living room has walls that don’t meet flush with the ceiling, lending the church’s main room a loft-like feeling. Located in Callicoon Center, a small Sullivan County hamlet in the rural Catskills, and sits right near the road (as churches are wont to do). There’s also a cemetery across the street. So, about the taxes. Weren’t not entirely sure why they’re so low, but we suspect that the most recent property tax information might be based on its status as a religious organization.
