Car-Free Country House: Beacon Victorian, $289,900

  |  August 15, 2012

There seems to be in a theme in our house-hunting this week. We keep stumbling upon houses close to waterfalls, like this adorable Victorian in the Dutchess County city of Beacon. The Fishkill Creek runs through the city, and this is situated right across the street from the falls and just a little over a mile from the Metro North station. That’s about a 20-30 minute walk, or a 15 minute bike ride, or you can just skip the legwork all together and call a cab to get you home. Beacon is incredibly easy to navigate car-free. Lots of great restaurants, stores, and pretty much anything else you would need, culture-wise, right at your fingertips.

We think this house is a great price and so lovely. It’s a good size, too; over 2600 square feet. The lot size is typical residential (less than a half-acre). Includes a full basement and two-car garage, you know, for that car you won’t be using!
