Car-Free Country House: Cold Spring Cape, $350,000
Kandy Harris | November 27, 2013If you’re familiar with the real estate market at all in the Putnam County village of Cold Spring, you know that $350,000 for a 1,000 square foot pad walking distance to town and the train station is pretty darn reasonable. Now, if we were to pluck this house out of Cold Spring and drop in, say, Port Ewen, it would probably be a lot less expensive. But Cold Spring is Cold Spring, an idyllic, lovely, waterfront town that’s an hour away from NYC. And there’s a lot to like about this little beauty, like a cozy interior with lots of light and a sweet (albeit small) back yard with a deck. As for the location, it’s great: Close to schools, the train, etc. Keep in mind, though, that the walk to the train station is down hill. The walk back is, well, you know.
