Car-Free Country House: Cooperstown Victorian, $349,000

  |  August 1, 2012

Cooperstown (Otsego County, just north of our TOTW, Oneonta) is a place so-far unexplored by Upstater, and its time has come. Look at this lovely Victorian on 4 and a half acres. We love it so much we can hardly stand it. And it’s a true country home: The property is landscaped and large, it includes a huge barn, the surrounding area is rural, and it’s close to Otsego Lake, which is positively enormous. The village of Cooperstown is a great place to visit, and not just because of the Baseball Hall of fame. It’s also a place of history, breweries, museums, and music (we are huge fans of the Glimmerglass Opera Festival), and this house is close to everything, including a Trailways bus station, which is about 3 miles away.

In spite of our best efforts, we could not obtain tax information for this property, so be warned. But given how many great properties we discovered in Cooperstown, we think it’s a safe bet that it will make an appearance as a Town of the Week before you know it. Meanwhile, consider this beauty a preview.
