Car-Free Country House: Greek Revival in Dover Plains, $395,000

  |  September 12, 2012

There seems to be a lot of ambivalence with Greek Revivals. But love it or hate it, there’s a lot going for this one in the eastern Dutchess County hamlet of Dover Plains; most notably, it’s ginormous size of over 6,000 square feet. And at $63/square foot, this is a pretty good deal. Alas, it needs work, the extent of which is tough to tell from some blurry pictures. But it also includes a guest house and three additional outbuildings (one of which is a chapel), all on 3 acres. It’s located about 2 miles from the center of Dover Plains and the Metro-North station there. The Tenmile Metro-North station in Amenia is also about 2 miles away, and both stations are cabable. And look at this adorable wee Greek Revival structure on the property! It’s like a little Mini-Me!
