Car-Free Country House: Kerhonkson Stone Cottage, $149,500
Kandy Harris | September 19, 2012What this house in Kerhonkson (Ulster County) lacks in size, it more than makes up for in cuteness. And it’s chock full of it. Love the screened-in porch, love the aqua marine cabinets in the kitchen, love the exterior stone work, love the acre-size yard dotted with lovely pines. And we especially love the price. The cottage is located just a mile from the Short Line bus stop in Kerhonkson, which makes it pretty easy for commuting to NYC, but getting groceries is a little more difficult, since nearby stores are of the “convenient” variety (read: jacked-up prices). Good news is, if you’ve got little ones, the elementary school is also walking distance.
