Car-Free Country House: Rhinecliff Bungalow, $185,000
Kandy Harris | April 24, 2013Rhinebeck usually doesn’t always have much on the market, so we like to jump on them when we find one or two. The Kelly Green house on Kelly Street pictured above is about a five minute walk away from the Rhinecliff Amtrak station, and it’s also close to the Rhinecliff Hotel, China Rose, and the Morton Library. The price is decent. Plus, it comes with the option to purchase an additional quarter-acre for $55,000, giving you a bit more breathing room than the .12 acres included.
The house also comes with our standard warning about living in Rhinecliff without a car: The hamlet does not have a grocery store or a food market nearby. The closest is in the village of Rhinebeck, which is about three miles away. However, it’s perfect if you’re looking for a cute weekend retreat that’s near the train station and two excellent dining options. Frankly, the thought of having dinner China Rose a few nights out of the week doesn’t bother us one bit.
