Car-Free Country House, Stamford Village Victorian, $155,900

If there’s a better place than Stamford (Delaware County) to find a propensity of Victorians for rock-bottom prices, we haven’t found it yet. Okay, maybe Kingston, Poughkeepsie, or Newburgh could give it a run for its money. But given that Stamford is a pretty small (and awfully cute) village, we find ourselves continuously impressed with its property offerings. Like this one here, located less than a 5-minute walk from the Adirondack Trailways bus station and walking distance to a whole bunch in the village, like cafes, stores, banks, schools, and Rexmere Lakes. We found the dark wood wainscoting on the porch to be particularly eye-catching, not to mention the tiny second floor balcony. Listings says that the 3000-square-foot house’s second floor also has its own kitchen, bath, and two bedrooms and could be used as a rental. Third floor has additional bedrooms, too.
