Waterfront Mansion with Greenhouse in Carmel, NY, $2M
Kandy Harris | January 17, 2022
Believe it or not, spring is coming, so we’re dreaming of greenhouses, like the one that comes with this Carmel mansion.
Most of us will find this stunning property on Lake Gleneida ridiculously out of our price range. However, this week on Upstater, we’re on the hunt for greenhouses to help us out of these mid-winter duldrums, and we love the one that sits on this 5.2-acre property…

…that just also happens to include a pristine circa-1870s Victorian mansion with a dramatic wrap-around porch with water views. Also on the property is a guest house, multiple out-buildings, and a five-bay garage. Let’s take the main house tour, which starts at the grand foyer of the 6,981-square-foot interior, draped in original wood details.

We’ve got parlors and sitting rooms a-plenty, and windows and pocket doors galore (to paraphrase American lyricist Howard Ashman)…

…as well as a big country kitchen big enough to sligh hash for a whole boat-load of guests…

…but one of our favorite features of the interior are its rounded corners. Can you spot them in the next three pictures?

At the top of the grand staircase is a gorgeous stained glass window….

…as well as several of the mansion’s eight bedrooms.

But, that’s not the only way to get some shut-eye here; there’s also a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath Contemporary guest house.

If you’re in the market for a family compound/short-term-rental/bed-and-breakfast situation, this one’s got a little bit of everything, all situated less than 90 minutes north of NYC.
