Catskill Mountain Yoga Festival Returns to Plattekill Mountain This July

  |  May 17, 2022

After 2021’s inaugural Catskill Mountain Yoga Festival brought a full day of yoga and wellness activities for all ages to scenic Plattekill Mountain near Roxbury, festival founder Raegan Reed began planning this year’s festival the very next day.

“Last year we had perfect weather and amazing participants,” says Reed, a longtime yogi and Delhi-based fitness instructor and owner of The Cardio Club and Delhi Dance Studio who dreamed up the festival back in 2017. “The energy was through the roof,” she says.

This July’s jam-packed, daylong event will feature over 40 different indoor, outdoor, and mountaintop yoga and meditation classes and workshops for all ages and abilities. Offerings run the gamut from restorative to high-silks aerial yoga and yoga trapeze classes, inversion workshops, creative yoga for rebels with headliner Kelly Kamm, a sweet and steady flow, and yoga for kids.

Reed is also building on last year’s success by making the festival an even more enticing place for yoga and wellness enthusiasts to spend the day. “We are adding beautiful pop-up tents so that people can practice in the shade if they want,” says Reed. “At the end of the day a buffet with light fare will allow participants to mix and mingle.”

She’s also added a host of nature-based and wellness-related workshops and activities to the mix, including sessions focused on easing back pain, expanding self-care, and exploring Thai partner massage, as well as foraging and nature walks.

The Delaware County ARC will also be hosting a painting activity for participants to express themselves creatively through art, and live music will happen throughout the day. Other on-site vendors will include two food trucks, a tarot reader, a henna artist, massage therapists, local artisans, craftsmen, and unique vendors. (And don’t forget the bar on the festival deck featuring the location’s fabulous mountaintop views.)

This year, Reed plans to cap off the day’s events with a sound bath accompanied by live music. She also looks forward to being on the schedule herself. “Last year I needed to make sure everything ran smoothly,” she explains. “But this year I will teach an Ebb & Flow yoga class on the mountaintop.”

Beyond rest, relaxation and getting in touch with the higher self, the family-friendly event’s focus is ultimately about good company and good times. “I couldn’t ask for better instructors, volunteers, vendors, or attendees,” she says. “It will be a fun day and all levels, ages, and abilities are welcome to come and enjoy.”

Catskill Mountain Yoga Festival will take place at Plattekill Mountain on Saturday, July 23 with a rain date of Sunday, July 24. For more info or to purchase tickets, visit Catskillmountainyogafestival.com. For festival updates, follow Catskill Mountain Yoga Festival on Facebook and Instagram.
