Welcome home to Broadview, a picture-perfect Catskills mini-compound on 7.3 acres…
Our week-long celebration of renovations brings us to the Greene County town of Durham, up in the Great Northern Catskills. That’s where we discovered this c.1850 farmhouse with a renovation just completed this year. Got horses? They’ll feel right at home in the six-stall mahogany horse barn on the property. And, you’ll feel right at home inside the 2,800-square-foot interior.
Old and new co-mingle to create timeless appeal with features like hardwood floors, ornate moldings and pillars, fresh paint, an airy first-floor scheme, and stainless steel kitchen. Adjoining that is the dining room that opens onto the wrap-around porch perfect for inside/outside summer dining or sipping mint juleps in the afternoon.
Includes five bedrooms, two full baths plus a half bath, fireplace, security system, and, perhaps the coolest detail of all, a rooftop look-out with 360-degree views of the Catskills.
According the listing, the property is currently an Airbnb. We suspect it does brisk business thanks to its proximity to lots of Catskill Mountain attractions, like: Zoom Flume water park, Windham and Hunter ski resorts, farm stands, cute East Durham village, the Catskill Creek and its myriad waterfalls/swimming holes, and Colgate Lake.
However, if this were our place, we’d have a hard time stepping off of this little slice of mountain-y goodness (oh, did we mention it comes with a stream and waterfall? So why ever leave?). Still, if we must, we can drive to Catskill village less than a half-hour east, or hop on I-87 drive to NYC in less than 3 hours. Again, if we absolutely must.
