Color Us Impressed with This Updated Hyde Park Ranch: $275K

  |  February 14, 2023

Today we’re in the woods of Hyde Park, on a verdant plot of land that’s a bit closer to Staatsburgh than it is to the heart of Hyde Park.

This two-bedroom ranch was built in 1955, but has been gut-renovated to a modern way of life. The black-trimmed white house looks like it’s been pulled straight from an uncolored coloring book—in a good way.

The 1,027-square-foot interior is awash in grays, creams, beiges, and whites. The front (side) door opens into the living room. Ceramic tile flooring resembles gray-washed wood planks. The wood-burning fireplace has a white mantel and tiling that will make another cameo later in this house tour.

The kitchen has the same shade of tile floor, but in a blockier shape. The cabinets are white, Shaker style, with geometric black-iron pulls. The quartz countertop mimics marble, and the ceramic-tile backsplash has an interesting herringbone pattern. The door leads out to a back patio.

The stainless steel appliances, including a five-burner gas stove, are brand-spankin-new.

The bathroom is ready for personalization, with a bevy of neutrals from the white vanity to the greige floor to the white fixtures.

Oh, hey! There’s that tile again!

The bigger of the two bedrooms is carpeted and has white walls, with a couple of windows to brighten things up.

The second bedroom has the same ceramic floor as the living room, and a single window.

The 560-square-foot, detached garage is oversized and has its own electric and heat. The house sits on nearly two acres and has a new furnace, new plumbing, and a newly updated electric system. Although it’s farther from the Hudson River than the heart of Hyde Park, it isn’t too far from shopping and about 15 minutes to Marist College and the Culinary Institute of America.
