Livingston Manor’s Annual Trout Parade

This Saturday, June 13 Livingston Manor will celebrate its 12th annual Trout Parade. Dubbed this year “Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Trout)…,” the parade includes munchkins, scarecrows, witches, tin men, and other “Wizard of Oz” themed characters. Floats and classic cars will join in the party. The parade kicks off at 1 pm. At 2 pm there will be concerts on the Main Stage; a theater performance will take place at 3 pm. The festivities will conclude with a community party at the Catskill Brewery at 5 pm. For full program, visit: catskillartsociety.org.

Olana State Historic Site

Olana State Historic Site is hosting a lecture this Saturday, June 13 at 3 pm, exploring Frederic Edwin Church’s library and his interests in the 19th century science and the evolution theory. Dr. Lloyd Ackert, Professor in History of Science at Drexel University, will talk about Church’s reading taste, and how that may have reflected in his paintings. Church was a prominent artist of the Hudson River School. For more information, visit: olana.org.

Blakeley White-McGuire, Principal Dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company Performs in Roxbury

Blakeley White-McGuire, principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, performs at the Roxbury Arts Center this Saturday, June 13 at 7:30 pm. McGuire has performed iconic roles in the Graham’s repertory, including Medea in Cave of the Heart, and the Chosen One in Rite of Spring. Called by Dance Magazine “a bold dancer with a flair for the dramatic, Blakeley White-McGuire [ … ] can command the stage with angst or humor.” This Saturday at the Roxbury Arts Center McGuire will be joined by twin sisters Hsiao-Wei and Hsiao-Ting, and cellist Nan-Cheng Chen. Melissa Etheridge at the Bardavon Theatre

Academy and Grammy Award winning artist, Melissa Etheridge will perform at the Bardavon Theatre this Sunday, June 14 at 7 pm. Etheridge will perform from her new album This is M.E., as well as some of her greatest hits such as Come to My Window, and I’m The Only One.
