Commutable: Cold Spring Lake House, $395,000
Upstater | November 14, 2012We’re keeping the focus on houses within commuting distance this week, and thus we turned our eyes to Cold Spring: a sweet little village, along the Hudson, on the MetroNorth line.
This one is but a few minutes from town, but smack dab on Lake Valhalla, which is a non-motor boat lake. Built in 1940, it figures at 1,666 square feet, which houses two beds and 1.5 baths. A lovely deck, almost half an acre of private land, access a clay tennis court and entrance to a hiking trail from the front yard.
Cold Spring has a lower unemployment rate, higher median income and higher cost of living than New York State’s average, or the country’s average. And apparently that’s a good thing for those looking for a place to send their kids to public school: Cold Spring’s school district rates 9 out of 10.
