My first experience living in upstate New York is quite a bit different from many people who find their way here. I never lived in the city. I came to upstate New York by way of Michigan in 2000, when I moved to Cornwall-on-Hudson to teach English at the New York Military Academy. The teaching gig didn’t work out, but my love affair with the Hudson Valley seems to have stood the test time since, despite the fact that I’ve moved about a half-dozen times since 2000. If you’ve ever been to the cute riverside village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, you understand why one might be compelled to return to the Hudson Valley. It’s walkable with a couple of good restaurants and a beautiful riverside park, which is next door neighbors with this 7 bed house. The location is stellar, but the house needs some work…and possibly an extra bath or two or five. The listing, however, states that the house is livable the way it is now. Who needs a project? Cornwall-on-Hudson is located in the town of Cornwall, Orange County, close to Bear Mountain, Storm King Art Center, and West Point.
