The Cornwall public school district is one of the best in the state. This Cornwall NY two bedroom house is in the district, and it’s cute as a button…
Any “one and done” parents out there in Upstater Land? For those of us parenting an only child (or a two children who don’t mind sharing a room), this two-bedroom clapboard Colonial in the heart of Cornwall-on-Hudson is darn near perfection.
Not only does the area include a great school district, it also provides quick access to Storm King Art Center, a big public swimming, the Museum of the Hudson Highlands, local parks, and libraries. There won’t be a shortage of things to do outside once the springs comes.
As for the house itself, did we mention it’s cute? Includes 1,500+ square feet, two cozy wood stoves in the living room, spacious kitchen with custom cabinetry, formal dining room, and two main bedrooms plus a den/workspace.
One of our favorite features of this home is the master suite with attached, light-filled office with floor-to-ceiling windows. Imagine rolling out of bed in the morning and having your coffee in your own private office space. It could also work as an art or yoga studio.
Cornwall-on-Hudson was the first place I lived in New York when I moved here in 2000. I found the hamlet to be friendly and mellow, and I spent a lot of time driving around and exploring the area, including Bear Mountain and West Point.
And, even after living in the Hudson Valley for nearly 20 years, I still find the Cornwall/Bear Mountain/Hudson Highlands region to be one of the prettiest around…and I’ve been everywhere. Consider that my completely biased, 100% un-scientific endorsement of Cornwall.
