Country Farmhouse in the Heart of the Hamlet
Kandy Harris | July 2, 2014The hamlet of Andes in Delaware County is situated on Route 28 roughly midway between Margaretville and Delhi. Like most places around the Catskill Mountains county, it’s not the place to go if you’re into fast-paced living, but it is somewhere to look if you enjoy charm, friendly neighbors, and historic properties. Case in point: A 19th century country farmhouse (although the listing says that it might be more like an 18th century farmhouse), complete with barn, right on Main Street. The interior is bright, bursting with country charm, and quite spacious at nearly 2,000 square feet. Our only gripe is the small lot size (a standard village quarter acre), but not surprising since it’s in the middle of the hamlet. Finally, we think you’ll find the property taxes a refreshing change from further south.
