A busy weekend last summer at the Peekamoose Blue Hole, one of the most popular swimming holes in the Catskills, resulted in a mountain of trash, broken glass, and burned-out fires. That’s why the New York State DEC is putting some strict limits on the Blue Hole in the Ulster County town of Denning for this Memorial Day weekend via some emergency regulations, according to a recent article on WatershedPost.com.

The DEC press release states that hours and parking will be limited and fires and glass containers prohibited. It goes without saying that we hope all visitors to the Catskill Mountains will respect the area’s incredible natural resources and bring out what they bring in not only this Memorial Day weekend, but every day during the summer. Consider this our plea to leave the swimming holes in pristine condition.
