Dockside Delight in Port Jervis: ‘The Boat House,’ $389.9K

  |  July 24, 2024

Today’s cottage has amazing lake views, and it’s right in Orange County.

The two-bedroom is located on Hawthorne Lake in Port Jervis, not far from the Pennsylvania border. Vinyl siding and a red metal roof are low-maintenance and pretty. And check out that loooong private dock.

Native plantings surround the quarter-acre property, and it backs up to Huckleberry Ridge State Forest.

Right off the dock’s porch, enter the living/dining room. It’s got Pecky cypress walls and a beautiful wood floor.

The rustic stone fireplace anchors the room.

In addition to the porch entrance, a side door opens from the outside to a lovely foyer.

A short flight hops from there to the rest of the house.

The kitchen has more hardwood flooring (some of which may need refinishing). White cabinets are topped with butcher-block counters.

The only bathroom has hexagonal floor tiles and subway tiling in the shower stall. A walnut vanity topped with a trough sink breaks up the whitewashed color scheme.

This bedroom is currently an office, with neutral walls and a dark wood floor.

This bedroom has the same board-and-batten walls as the living room, and a beautiful wood floor.

A detached garage offers plenty of storage options.

Two waterfront side yards offer lots of room to play.

“The Boat House” is convenient to Route 84 and is 20 miles east of the cute Milford, Pa., shopping district. Warwick’s downtown is 20 miles east of here. But for regular shopping, downtown Port Jervis is under 15 minutes away, with a stop at Ben’s Fresh for a burger.
