Dutchess County Refurbished Barn c.1815, $949K
Kandy Harris | February 23, 2018Here at Upstater, we adore up-cycled structures, so this Dutchess County refurbished barn is right up our alley…
As we finish out our week under soaring vaulted ceilings, we make a stop in the town of Clinton in Dutchess County at this refurbished barn. And we all know nothing says “high ceilings” like taking an old barn and making it into a home.
Originally built in 1815, the barn includes 3,500 square feet, and an open first floor with living room wood stove, two dining areas, and a kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Upstairs on the second floor, a master bedroom, two additional bedrooms, and two baths. Period details like timber ceiling/wall beams and plank wood floors abound.
We love the barn door sliders, too, which are a nice recent feature with a nod to the barn’s venerable past.
Additionally, this barn is so much more than a renewed vintage barn. It’s also the coolest house in the neighborhood, thanks to the downstairs game room and additional guest room and bath. Don’t worry, you can still take the party outside to the patio gas BBQ grill and retractable awning. Plus, there’s an above-garage terrace, heated in-ground pool, fire pit, putting range, and seasonal creek on the 11.1-acre lot.
