Eco-Friendly in Gardiner for $349,000
Kandy Harris | August 8, 2014Looking for a way to reduce both your monthly utilities and your carbon footprint? This solar-powered log house in Gardiner might be the ticket. Located just down the road from the center of Gardiner village, the home’s interior is constructed of bamboo and cork, includes radiant heat, skylights, and a water filtration system. Outside is a nature lover’s paradise, as the “bird sanctuary” sign might indicate. The acre and a half lot size is large enough to accommodate gardens and maybe even a chicken coop or two. Looks like the raised beds are already set up. We’d love to see more and better shots of the interior, but what we can see is tantalizing. And finally, it’s less than a mile from the Gardiner entrance to the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, which will take you straight to the center of New Paltz. If you want to ditch the car completely to close the loop on your eco-friendly living plan, there’s a local bus that stops down the road at Ireland Corners.
