There’s nothing understated about Edgewood Terrace, including its Hudson River views, and that’s exactly what we love about it.

Drenched in Victorian-era finery and situated on a 12-acre swathe of land overlooking the Hudson, Edgewood Terrace is less a private residence and more a landmark. While the c.1873 Second-Empire exterior is on full display from the road, the 11,000-square-foot interior is less prolific, unless you were lucky enough to attend a wedding or pay a visit here at some point in the past. The fact that it’s on the market, however, gives us a chance to poke around inside a nationally-registered historic site/museum of Victorian details.

Right away, we noticed the front door is actually three sets of double doors, each opening in a different direction. The main door opens into the grand entry with original staircase, parquet floors, and ornate moldings and trim.

Multiple sitting rooms and parlors offer gorgeous bay windows and cast-iron fireplaces…so many fireplaces in this mansion, and, as evidenced by this week’s theme, we love fireplaces. We also love this lavender-themed room…

…and this subtle pistachio-hued room…

…as well as the bold tone of the formal dining room with a spectacular ceiling.

The commercial kitchen space is set up to feed many hungry people…

…and the conservatory with walls of windows is perfect for feeding sunlight-hungry plants.

Each of the estate’s nine bedrooms are spacious enough to enjoy your breakfast and afternoon tea from the comfort therein….

…and the walk-up attic has been converted into a massive bedroom suite.

The next-door carriage house still comes with its original stalls and stable, and there are also two other homes on the property, one of which is a guest house.

Hold special events around the dreamy gazebo, with the Hudson River serving as backdrop…

…or literally anywhere else around this lush, manicured property, sitting just steps away from the Hutton Brickyards, Kingston’s Downtown/East Strand neighborhood, and the Kingston Point Rail Trail.
