Esopus Round House on the River, $475,000
Kandy Harris | May 8, 2012
Well, one thing’s for sure: We like how this house looks…from what we can see of it. The listing provides some pictures of the view, which is great. It’s on the Hudson in the hamlet of Port Ewen (just a stone’s throw from Kingston), and the house is certainly unique-looking. But there are only two interior shots. One is of a window that looks out onto the river, and the other is a shot of the kitchen. For close to a half-a-mill, we’re hoping the inside is spectacular.
It seems to okay on paper: Two car garage with workshop, 190 feet of river frontage, full basement, concrete boat launch. But it’s also small at just a hair over 1,200 square feet, and one of the bathrooms needs to be finished. Call us skeptical, but that’s enough for us to give this house a bit of the side-eye.
The view is pretty spectacular, though, and maybe that alone make this house worth its weight in gold.
