Farmhouse in Shokan, $209,000

  |  May 31, 2012

To be perfectly honest, Shokan isn’t really the place to go if you’re looking for a bargain. We suggest other locations for that (Ravena, last week’s TOTW, had some pretty cheap and drool-worthy Victorians for sale, or perhaps Coxsackie, which has some of everything). But we did stumble across this little farmhouse beauty, and we think it’s worth a look.

First of all, it’s located on an 1.5 acres, so you’re getting a bit of land with the deal. Plus, we really like how rustic it is in on the inside. Exposed beams, rough-hewn plank floors in the second floor bedrooms, and a living room brick fireplace  (listing says it comes with a woodstove, too, that needs installation). We also like the slate floor and wall details. It’s located steps away from the Ashokan Reservoir, so it’s a fairly idyllic location with some mountain views and plenty of greenery. Taxes are suspiciously low for the area.
