Five-Figure Friday: A Diamond in the Rough in Glen Spey, $95.5K

  |  August 23, 2024

This diamond in the rough in Glen Spey, a hamlet in Sullivan County, is in surprisingly good shape for its price.

Built in 1950, it has two bedrooms and 1.5 baths.

That intact ceiling alone is enough to warrant a gasp from old-home purists. The new flooring garners the same from new-home lovers.

Sure, there’s still work to be done. We love that woodburning stove.

The living room can be bright and cozy once all the clutter is cleared.

The kitchen has its own nook.

We are clearly surprised that a decent kitchen appears to exist in a five-figure home. Yet, there it is: White cabinets topped with granite-look counters. Yes, the fridge is super-petite, but you can’t deny that it’s a full kitchen.

This view shows the kitchen’s proximity to what we believe is the front door.

The dining room has its own charms, beginning with this built-in shelving.

The flooring is coolly funky.

The stairwell needs help, though, for sure.

This small but intact bathroom, though…Good to see in a five-figure house.

The exterior is painted a deep blue.

Saltbox? Shed roof? We’re unsure what you’d call the style…we’re just happy it’s here.

And there’s a sweet little one-car garage/garden shed, too. The property totals about a quarter-acre, not too shabby.

It’s definitely in a quiet part of Sullivan County, but that’s why you move to the woods, right?
