Five-Figure Friday: Saugerties Bungalow Cottage, $90,000
Kandy Harris | August 23, 2013There’s usually a pro/con list to every five-figure property we profile, and this one in Saugerties is no different. On the “Pros” side, it’s cute, in great shape, has an enclosed front porch painted the most soothing blue color, and the house doesn’t need a stitch of work since it looks great inside. On the “Cons” side, well, to be perfectly frank, it’s not the most desirable location. It’s close to Route 9W (a busy main artery between Saugerties and Kingston), about 4 miles from the village, and surrounding by some houses that are perfectly fine and nice, and some that are in various states of disrepair. It’s also in one of the few dead spots in Saugerties in which we get no cell service whatsoever. However, back on the “Pros” side, there are plantings and shrubbery that do their level best to shield this little cottage from the road, and it’s on a quarter of an acre, which is large enough to plant a small vegetable garden. Another possible “Pro”, the Esopus Creek is right across the road, but 9W is perched high enough on the ledge that flooding isn’t a concern. Another Pro? The taxes are approaching reasonable.
