Five-Figure Fridays: Nothing Doing in Goshen
Upstater | April 6, 2012Yep, it’s true. If you’re looking to drop less than $100,000, Goshen is not currently your best bet. As of this writing, there’s not a single property on sale for five figures. So we expanded our search to Orange County as a whole, and there were more than 100 properties. Most were in the cities: Middletown, Newburgh, a couple in the sweet and retiring town of Warwick, nearby.
But here’s a rural pad that caught our eye: a lakefront cottage in Greenwood Lake for $69,000.
Why so cheap? As you can see, the home is not finished. Not by a long shot.
Though we assume the price includes the building materials left inside. It certainly looks bigger than 564 square feet, or at least it should be so after the renovation. The cottage was originally built in 1930, and has a lot of charm on the outside. It’s also a pretty darn convenient getaway from NYC: 15 minutes to the Tuxedo Metro-North.
