Fixer-Upper of the Week: Wappingers Falls Farmhouse, $165,000
Upstater | June 6, 2012
Here’s what we like about this Wappingers Falls farmhouse, built in 1800: the eyebrow windows; the solarium off the living room; the land (about 1.6 acres, abutting a stream); the windows; and the fireplace, even though we’d retile it. On the cosmetic side, it’s in need of some upgrades: tearing out the wall-to-wall, doing something about that knotty pine paneling, putting in a new kitchen.
They’re not joking about the fixer-upper part, though. It currently has no heat, and is not inhabitable. Also, it’s mighty close to the Dutchess County airport, but we’re not sure how much traffic it gets. The price is set at $165,000, but all reasonable offers will be considered, so says the listing. What do you all think is reasonable?
1521 Route 376, Wappingers Falls. $165,000. GMAP.
