We are longing for something different. While we enjoyed a summer of magical Catskills/HV fun in the form of swimming, kayaking, visiting farmers markets, etc., with the winds of fall come a hankering for some weirdness. Thankfully, the Found Footage Festival is coming to Upstate Films in Woodstock on September 16th. And it doesn’t get much more weird than this. The touring film festival showcases obscure videos and films discovered in the dark corners of yard sales, second-hand stores, attics, garages, and storage spaces. Hosts Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett shine a light on clips from these oddball movies. According to the Found Footage website, this year’s show features such gems as “a new exercise video montage featuring a Christmas-themed workout, a martial arts fitness regimen called ‘Tiger Moves,’ and a tape called ‘Butt Camp.'” And that’s just scratching the bizarre surface. Found Footage starts at 8pm on 9/16 at Upstate Films, 132 Tinker Street. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here. Need to whet your whistle pre-Festival? Check out some video clips on the Found Footage Festival website and let your freak flag fly.
