So says an as-yet unreleased report that was leaked to the NY Times earlier this week. “The Department of Environmental Conservation’s regulatory plan for gas drillers does not envision ‘significant adverse impacts on human health’ due to fracking if drilling rules are followed,” writes the Daily Freeman. The NYT headline was: “Gas Drilling Is Called Safe in New York.”

This doesn’t mean wells will appear in every cranny along the Marcellus Shale, but rather, as the Times writes, “A plan to allow a limited amount of fracking in the state’s Southern Tier along the Pennsylvania border is still seen as themost likely outcome, should the drilling process receive final approval.”

So, is the case closed? Problem solved? Your fears allayed? Or are you wondering why so many thousands of people continue to assert that it’s dangerous?
