Hobart Book Village from HobartBookVillage.com.

It’s a story that positively warms the cockles of our literary hearts: Turns out, the quiet and charming village of Hobart in Delaware County is a book lover’s haven, and this fact recently caught the attention of Guardian.com. You should delve into the whole article, which details the existence of the Hobart Book Village, a bibliophile’s dream located out in the wilds of the rural Catskills. Hobart Book Village is comprised of 6 bookstores as well as a cafe and art gallery. Even more interestingly, Book Village is owned by Don Dales, an entrepreneur who set his sights on buying up former-ghost town Hobart’s real estate and transforming the village into something akin to a bigger book village located in Hay-on-Wye in Wales. While Dale owns Book Village, independent booksellers rent the space and offer what must be a dizzying selection of reading material for a place with a population of 441 residents. A book-lover’s paradise in a decidedly non-hipster-y part of the Catskills? Count us in.
