Fun, MidMod Ranch in New Paltz: $400K
Jane Anderson | October 31, 2024
Midcentury Modern ranches are fairly common around the Hudson Valley, and the era is kinda having a “moment” at the moment.
Today’s New Paltz pick is a fun, MidMod ranch on the outskirts of the village. Its bright-pink aluminum siding catches the eye, for sure; the listing assures that, if the new owner doesn’t prefer that tone, it can be painted over.

A leaded-glass window tops the front door. And upon entry, the mid-50s ethos springs again to life with orange walls and a rustic wood accent wall.

A triple-pane picture window has casements underneath for ventilation.

The dining room flows right off of the living room: The transition is marked by a switch from traditional stained hardwood flooring to painted blocks of color underneath the Eames-esque dining set.

The kitchen continues the color scheme in its backsplash and a bright hutch.

White appliances, cabinetry, and counters are a calm canvas for the splashes of color.

A wall of windows above the sink offer a leafy view.

Even the bathroom pops with this vibrant red vanity against wavy white wall tile.

The walk-in shower is more sedate but still elegant, with brown subway tiling.

The primary bedroom has pale blue walls that contrast well against nice hardwood flooring.

Knotty-pine walls encase this bedroom.

And green is the wall color of choice in this bedroom-turned-den.

The house sits on more than an acre, with a matching shed.

It’s about equidistant from New Paltz and Gardiner. A four-minute drive gets you in the thick of downtown New Paltz, and a peek at the mitzvah wall in Lagusta’s Luscious Cafe.
